My great-grandparents (the family story goes) went on an epic trip to Alaska sometime in the 1940s. In 2011, my wife and I went on our own Alaskan yoyage, visiting Montana, Washington and British Columbia along the way. Ironically, the relentless cold and damp made the places we visited feel small and claustrophobic to me, a feeling I tried to capture in my trip photos, a few of which I've posted below.
